1.5 Paper Quilling Training and Marketing
Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled,
shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is rolled, looped, curled,
twisted and otherwise manipulated to create shapes which make up designs to decorate greetings
cards, pictures, boxes, eggs, and to make models, jewelry, mobiles etc. Quilling starts with
rolling a strip of paper into a coil and then pinching the coil into shapes that can be glued
together. There are advanced techniques and different sized paper that are used to create 3D
miniatures, abstract art, and quilled flowers among many things.
The Objectives of Paper Quilling Training and Marketing are:
1. To train the participants the methods of paper quilling.
2. To help the participants develop innovate skills in producing jewelry, handicrafts,
showpiece, greetings and artistic designs.
3. To give an adequate knowledge on marketing the paper quilling products in order to
generate income.
4. To help participants to raise income from the paper quilling products.
5. To encourage the participants to use paper quilling to raise the standard of living and
economic growth.

The first skill based Paper Quilling and Marketing Training was organized by JCI MANOHARA
on Wednesday, January 29th, 2019 at Shree Siddhi Ganesh Secondary School, Gagal Fedi-1,
Kageshwori Manohara, Kathmandu. The training starts from January 29th and ends on February
29th. The time Duration of the training is thirty days (one month). The training was organized
under the chairmanship of President JC Rajani Thapa, JCI MANOHARA. The program
coordinator of the training was JC Saugat Rokka. Similarly, the training was facilitated by chief
Trainer JC Suzeen Thapa. The number of participants in the training was fifteen (15). The
training was targeted to village woman. The training is aimed to help the participants develop
innovative skills on producing handmade Jewelry, Handicrafts and Show Piece. The training also
focused on marketing of the paper quilling products in order to earn income and raise standard of
living. The training focuses on making the village woman economically independent.
Outcome of the Training
The core motive of this training is to train the village women to design and create different items
using paper quilling skills. Similarly, the training also aims to help the woman to become
economically independent. The time duration of the training is 30 days. Thus, we are very
positive about the outcome.
