Successful Second Gaurilal Shrestha Memorial Jhapa District Level Karate Competition Leaves Mark on Surunga

The Illuwabari Karate Dojo, in collaboration with JCI Surunga, proudly hosted the Second Gaurilal Shrestha Memorial Jhapa District Level Karate Competition on April 27, 2024. The event, held at the Surunga Jaycees Building in Kanakai-3, from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, attracted over 400 enthusiastic participants from various municipalities of Jhapa District.

Memorial Tribute and Aim: The competition, organized in memory of Late Gaurilal Shrestha by his family in Surunga, aimed to honor his legacy while promoting karate talent in the district. The event exemplified the spirit of unity and dedication, echoing the slogan "Sports for healthy life, sports for country."

Thriving Enthusiasm: The premises of JCI Surunga buzzed with energy as male and female competitors, ranging from 20 kg to 60 kg, showcased their skills and passion for karate. The competition served as a platform for budding athletes to demonstrate their prowess and dedication to the sport.

Diverse Participation: Participants from various municipalities across Jhapa District graced the event, underscoring the widespread interest and talent in karate within the region. The inclusive nature of the competition fostered camaraderie and healthy competition among athletes.

Distinguished Guests: The formal ceremony, which commenced at 1:00 pm, was honored by esteemed guests, including JC Jagan Karki, Chairman of the Karate Committee in Jhapa, and Mrs. Bindiya Karki, Vice-president of the Koshi Province Sports Board, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Their presence added prestige and encouragement to the aspiring karatekas.
