Banepa, Nepal – 27th September 2024 – JCI Kavre, in collaboration with JCI Kavre Lady and Banepa Junior Jaycees, hosted an inspiring event, Project "संरक्षण" - Heritage Tales of Banepa, at the Sopu Hiti Party Palace. The event brought together over 200 participants to celebrate and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Banepa, a town known for its vibrant history and significant landmarks.
The event, held in the scenic surroundings of the Chandeshwori Temple and Sopu Hiti Party Palace, aimed to engage the local community in the preservation of Banepa’s heritage, encouraging both youth and adults to take active roles in protecting the town's cultural landmarks.
The event was graced by several prominent figures, including the Chief Guest Jc Kanchan Chandra Bade Shrestha, Member of Province Parliament- Bagmati (Past President of JCI Kavre), and the Guest of Honor JCI Sen. Shanti Ratna Shakya, Mayor of Banepa Municipality (Past President of JCI Kavre). Also attending as a Guest of Honor was Bimala Sapkota Dahal, Deputy Mayor of Banepa Municipality.
The event was coordinated by Jc Anish Manandher, Executive Vice President of JCI Kavre, and led by Jc Nirjan Gautam, Community Sector Executive Vice President of JCI Kavre. The Master of Ceremony was Jc Sworup Shakya, Secretary General of JCI Kavre, with the closing remarks delivered by JC Rikesh Sainju, President of JCI Kavre.
Project "संरक्षण" focused on raising awareness about the importance of preserving Banepa’s cultural heritage. The event highlighted the need for sustainable practices to safeguard the town’s historical landmarks and traditions. Through speeches and interactive sessions, the attendees were encouraged to take collective action towards maintaining Banepa’s cultural identity.
The event not only aimed to motivate locals to preserve their heritage but also emphasized the value of investing in cultural preservation. The initiative showcased how such efforts can strengthen the community, create a sense of ownership among the residents, and inspire the youth to take an active interest in heritage conservation.
The event successfully engaged over 200 participants, including local residents, young people, and cultural advocates. Speaking at the event, Jc Kanchan Chandra Bade Shrestha emphasized the importance of heritage conservation for the prosperity of the community and urged everyone to contribute to the ongoing preservation efforts. Similarly, JCI Sen. Shanti Ratna Shakya and Bimala Sapkota Dahal expressed their support for initiatives that focus on cultural heritage, with both officials confirming the municipality’s commitment to preserving Banepa’s historical sites.
Project "संरक्षण" marks the beginning of a long-term effort to preserve Banepa’s heritage for future generations. The initiative not only inspired the participants to actively engage in heritage conservation but also paved the way for future collaborations between local government, community organizations, and heritage experts.
As the event concluded, JC Rikesh Sainju, President of JCI Kavre, encouraged the participants to keep the momentum going and work towards the protection of their shared history. The success of Heritage Tales of Banepa demonstrated the power of community-driven initiatives in preserving cultural legacies and fostering a collective responsibility for heritage protection.
